Thank you for your generous support!
From January 10th 2026 to January 10th 2027, we are celebrating the Jubilee Year of Saint Francis of Assisi
This year marks the 800th anniversary of his death. His Feast Day, as you know, is October 4th, which is also the Consecration date of the Cathedral.
Following the Saturday Vigil and Sunday Masses on October 3rd and 4th, there will be an opportunity to venerate a relic of Saint Francis of Assisi and to ask for his intercession. There will also be prayer cards available, which include the prayer written by Pope Leo XIV for the Jubilee (included below).
The prayer carries with it a Plenary Indulgence under the usual conditions (Sacramental Confession, reception of Holy Communion, and a prayer for the intentions of the Holy Father) which may also be offered for the souls in purgatory.
Saint Francis of Assisi, pray for us.
Prayer written by Pope Leo XIV for the Jubilee Year of St. Francis of Assisi
Saint Francis, our brother, you,
who eight hundred years ago,
went to meet Sister Death as a man at peace.
Intercede for us with the Lord.
In the Crucifix of San Damiano,
you recognized true peace.
Teach us to see in Him
the source of all reconciliation
that breaks down every wall.
You, who, unarmed, crossed the lines
of war and misunderstanding.
Give us the courage to
build bridges where the world erects borders.
In this time plagued by conflict and division,
intercede so that we may become peacemakers:
unarmed and disarming witness
of the peace that comes from Christ.
Amen.
